Monitoring, level two: uptime & SSL, visual change detection, competitors in the report

Monitoring used to mean one thing here: a scheduled re-audit and a diff of the findings. Three more layers ship today, all on the sites you already track.

Uptime and SSL

Every monitored site is probed every five minutes. One missed probe is noise; two in a row is downtime, and you get an email right then, another when the site is back, with the outage length. The certificate is read once a day: an alert 14 days before it expires, an email at 3 days. The Site dashboard shows 30-day uptime, response time and the certificate's expiry; the portfolio list gets a status dot. Sites behind Cloudflare challenges count as up.

Visual change detection

Weekly sweeps now keep a full-page screenshot of the homepage and compare it with the previous one, pixel by pixel. When more than about a tenth of the page changed, the Changes feed shows before, after and a third image with the changed areas highlighted. A rotating testimonial does not trigger it; a broken layout, a hijacked page or a redesign nobody told you about does.

Competitors in the report

Under the summary of any report you own there is a "Versus competitors" table: Growth Score, all eight categories, organic keywords, referring domains and AI mentions, you against up to three competitors on exactly the same scoring. If we have audited the competitor recently the numbers appear at once; if not, adding them runs a full audit of their site from your plan, and you can open their report too.
