A faster Webmatik: our own database, edge-cached pages, reports in one request

Webmatik now runs on its own database, next to the app. Public pages come from the edge cache, a report opens with a single request, and the dashboard loads its data in parallel. Every tracked site on Growth and Agency is crawled weekly at 300 pages. Plus fixes to client portals, the score badge and shared links.

Until today our database and sign-in ran on a hosted service. On October 30 we moved both onto our own server, next to the app, and then went through every place the product reads data, from the homepage to the agency portals.

What got faster

  • Public pages. Home, pricing, the blog and the guides are served from Cloudflare's edge cache. Measured from Europe they answer in 60–90 ms instead of about 170 ms, and a blog article in about 60 ms instead of 300.
  • Reports. A report opens with one request instead of three or four in a row. While an audit runs, the progress screen asks only for its status instead of downloading the whole report every few seconds.
  • The dashboard. It no longer waits for the sign-in check before loading your sites and audits, and the requests behind each page run side by side instead of one after another.
  • The leaderboard. Every ranked site is in the page as it arrives instead of being fetched after it loads.

Sign-in

You still sign in with Google; we now handle it ourselves. Everyone was signed out once during the move. Your account, audits and settings are where you left them, and you stay signed in as long as you visit at least once a month.

Site crawl

Every tracked site on Growth and Agency is now crawled weekly at the plan's full 300 pages, including sites on a monthly or manual re-audit schedule. While a new crawl runs, or if one fails, the crawl page keeps showing the previous results and their date.

Fixes

  • Client portals counted 0 completed fixes. They now show the items you marked as fixed in the report.
  • Client portals never show an exact score for a free check, which only has an estimated range.
  • The score badge matches your exact domain. A short domain could pick up the score of a longer one that contains it.
  • Link previews of some older shared reports showed the wrong score in the title.
  • API keys now show when they were last used. The date never updated before.
  • Scheduled re-audits keep up on days when many sites are due instead of falling behind.
